3 primary colors = red, yellow, blue
3 secondary colors - orange, violet, green
By mixing the different combinations of the primary colors we create the secondary colors.
(ex: blue + red = violet)
Looking at a color wheel we will find opposing shades/colors.
Color Theory tells us opposing colors/shades on the wheel will neutralize each color.
(Ex: violet + yellow = neutral)
In order to neutralize an undesirable tone we need to find its opposite tone on the wheel. This is found by locating the undesired tone and finding the tone opposite of this.
Ex: If we have underlying RED TONE we would use its opposite on the wheel I.E. GREEN to neutralize the RED
